Growing Up

Ephesians 4:14-15 "That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into him who is the head--Christ."

Babies are wonderful.  It seems as though everyone loves a new baby. It's enjoyable to watch them grow and eventually turn into a responsible adult.  But if a child never grows, we get concerned about their health and we try to get to the bottom of why they aren't growing. When children are small, they often believe everything they are told. They don't question whether what they are being told is true or not.  However, if a child never learns to develop their own convictions, we question if they have really grown up.  In the same way, Christians need to become strong in the Lord.  We need to know what we believe and why we believe it or else, we are as vulnerable and gullible as a child.  Let's face it, we will never have all the answers until we go Home to Heaven. This is why we must continue to grow in the Word daily and seek God's guidance through His word. There is no magical formula for spiritual growth. We all grow at different rates, yet, just like a baby who never grows up raises a red flag; we also need to want to continue to grow in our Faith.

  1. Hi Kathy,

I really enjoyed your post. You are very right in saying that there is no magical formula for spiritual growth. I have found that patience and experience help with this process. :)
