Mother's Day and Blog-Hop 2012
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I have had a lot of fun this week with the 1st Blog-Hop, but I thought I might pause for a moment to reflect on Mother's Day. When I was a young girl, I remember that we would make things in Sunday School class or school for our mothers. My mom would beam over each and every little thing we would make. Later, when I was a mom, my children did the same thing. They would rush home with their gifts. They couldn't wait for mother's day--a ceramic hand, a bouquet of paper flowers. I loved each gift so much. Every now and then I take them out and look at the treasures that my children made so long ago. Now I have grandchildren. The older ones spend quite a bit of time picking me dandelion flowers, making pictures and making their mother little projects and whatnot. The time has gone so fast.
Fortunately for me, my mother is still alive and I can still do things for her. Perhaps Mother's Day isn't pleasant for you. Maybe you were never blessed to become a mother or your relationship is strained with your mother or your children. God knows your hurts and sadnesses and He wants to comfort you. Perhaps your children have passed on to be with the Lord. Though I have not lost a child, I have lost a baby and I still think about my baby boy from time to time. My prayer for you is that God would give you grace to get through this holiday. He loves you and He treasures you.
Have a blessed Mother's Day!
Remember, you still have a few days left to Hop on over to the 54 other sponsors of the Blog-Hop--There are so many great prizes out there and I know that you will enjoy them. DeleteHi Kathy, glad you are part of the "hop" and thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a part of the blog hop. I enjoyed visiting your site.
ReplyDeleteKathy, you reminded me of all the things my children have given me. There comes a time when children grow up and they don't give you all those hand-made things anymore. But I have kept them, and when I am down, those sweet pictures or notes remind me that I have so much to be thankful for, and not to let my joy be stolen over something that is not worth getting upset about. Have a blessed Mother's Day. By the way, I hope you will visit my blog and leave a comment for a free signed copy of my mothering book, Children of Dreams. I am giving away 2 copies.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your site. You have good words!
